Rapid Dimension for Drawing Detailing

You can use the rapid dimension manipulator to place dimensions so they are evenly spaced and easier to read.
The rapid dimension manipulator appears when you insert dimensions in drawing views. Use the manipulator to place dimensions at evenly spaced intervals. For example, if you insert a dimension between two dimensions, the new dimension is spaced evenly between them.
To place dimensions quickly, use the:
- Tab key to switch to the different manipulator locations
- Spacebar to place the dimension in a suitable location outside of the model geometry
You can control the spacing used by rapid dimension in Tools > Options > Document Properties > Dimensions under Offset distances.
When the rapid dimension manipulator creates dimensions on a symmetric centerline, any dimensions that might overlap are staggered for drawings in the ANSI standard
Using Rapid Dimension
To use rapid dimensioning:
- Open install_dir\samples\whatsnew\detailing\dimension.slddrw.
- Click Smart Dimension (Dimensions/Relations toolbar) or Tools > Dimensions > Smart.
-
Click the edge shown.

The rapid dimension manipulator appears as:

- Click the lower portion of the rapid dimension manipulator.

The dimension is placed below the selected edge.
- Click the two edges as shown, and then click the lower portion of the rapid dimension manipulator.

- Repeat step 5 for the two edges shown.

- Click one of the circular edges.
The rapid dimension manipulator appears as:
