Transfer and Activation of a Standalone License of SOLIDWORKS

All standalone SOLIDWORKS license are activation- based can be used to activate one machine. If you wish to use your license on another system, you must first deactivate the computer that is currently active.

The SOLIDWORKS standalone license activation is based on unique computer ID’s which was generated based on the computer hard drive and motherboard. In case, when upgrading your hardware, formatting windows, or changing your SOLIDWORKS software to new system. The activated license must and should deactivate on the computer first. Afterwards, reactivate the license on the new computer configuration. Failing to deactivate before making these changes will result in SOLIDWORKS unable to be reactivated and therefore will be unusable. If your activation is lost due to hardware or software issues, contact BEACON Technical Support immediately to rectify the problem.

There are two methods of activating SOLIDWORKS standalone license.

  • Internet method.
  • Manually via Email method.

 

Method 1: Internet Method

Step 1. Launch the SOLIDWORKS.

Step 2. When SOLIDWORKS starts, the activation page will display.

Choose the 1st radio button: I want to activate my SOLIDWORKS product now. If the activation page does not appear when SOLIDWORKS opened, Go to Help > License > Activate to start activation.

Step 3: Click the Next button to continue.

Step 4:  Select All and Make sure Automatically over the internet (recommended)is selected and select Next to continue.

Step 5: Now SOLIDWORKS will connect to activation portal through internet.

Step 6: Once activation is successful, Below Activation/reactivation Succeeded message appear.

Now, SOLIDWORKS is now properly activated.

Note: Same procedure is applicable for other SOLIDWORKS Add-Ins product as well.

Method 2: Manual Method (Email Activation).

This method is used when no internet connection in SOLIDWORKS installed system.

Follow the above step 1 to 3, In step 4 select Manually via Email method, enter your mail ID.

Step 1: On the next page, press the Save button to create an activation request file.

Step 2: Browse to a location on your computer to store this .txt file and press the Save button.

Copy this text file onto a removable storage device and move it to a machine with internet access.

Step 3: From the system with internet access, send this file as an attachment to an email to activation@solidworks.com

Note:  Don’t enter subject and signature in email, only activation request attachment text file (.txt) should be attached.

Step4: From activation portal of SOLIDWORKS will send a return email with a different text file attached. Save this text file to a removable storage device and move it back to the machine awaiting activation.

Step 5: In the SOLIDWORKS product activation window, press the OPEN button on the Email activation page.

This will bring up a browser to read in the .txt file, Browse the activation request attachment text file (.txt).

Step 6: Once activation is successful, Below Activation/reactivation Succeeded message appear.

License Deactivation/Transfer

Method 1: Internet.

Step 1: Launch SOLIDWORKS 2021, Go to the Help pull down menu and choose Licenses> Deactivate.

Step 2: Select “Automatically over internet” if system as internet connection. Click next.

Step 3:  Deactivation success message should appear. If deactivation is successful.

Method 2: License Deactivation/Transfer by manual method by email.

Step 1: Launch SOLIDWORKS 2021, Go to the Help pull down menu and choose Licenses > Deactivate.

Step 2: Select “Manually via E-mail” if system does not have internet connection. Click next.

Step 3: Browse to a location on your computer to store this .txt file and press the Save button.

Copy this text file onto a removable storage device and move it to a machine with internet access.

Step 4: From the system with internet access, send this file as an attachment to an email to activation@solidworks.com
