Internet Issues – Work Offline with SOLIDWORKS Connected

When you are not connected to the internet you can use SOLIDWORKS Connected application

Using Work offline mode you can work offline for a limited period of time without connecting to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. You can work offline for maximum 30 consecutive days. If you do not connect back to platform before the selected offline period, your applications reconnect automatically.

You can create new content while using offline mode and work locally on any content while using offline mode. When you return online or connected back to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, you can save new and updated content back to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

When you work on offline mode, the licenses for all the assigned roles are taken offline until you turn off Offline mode or the when the offline

You’ll want to open the model/files you plan to work on in advance of going offline. Log into the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform and launch the SOLIDWORKS Connected app, or you can do it directly from the SOLIDWORKS Connected shortcut on your desktop if you have created a desktop shortcut.

Next search for the model on 3DSearch. It is recommended to lock the file on the platform that you don’t want anyone to change.

Drag and drop on SOLIDWORKS area to open the required files.

Select the files you want to work while offline and right-click > Lifecycle and collaboration > Lock

Next click on “Work Offline,” which is available next to your user icon in the upper right of the SOLIDWORKS interface. Click the globe-looking icon, which you can see as you hover over will say “Work Offline.”

When you hit the icon, a dialog box will appear where you can select the duration (0-30Days) that you can work in offline mode before it will automatically switch back to online mode. Select the number of days to remain in offline mode then click Ok

Note: It states to make sure you have locked and downloaded the 3DEXPERIENCE Files/models you want to work on. In addition to this, make sure you have created a desktop shortcut on your desktop of all the applications installed from the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform so that you can open and use them while you are offline

Click on 3DEXPERIENCE files on this PC, drag and drop the required files to work offline

Make the necessary changes on the required file.

Click on Save to this PC

Close all the documents and then reconnect with the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

Simply click the offline mode icon to switch back to online mode then on the tab which states do you want to reconnect to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform then click yes. Open the file that you’ve saved locally also you can open it from (3DEXPERIENCE Files on this PC), while in offline mode to see the changes you’ve made and from there you can sync the changes, review or make additional revisions before you save to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

So offline mode helps us while working on remote locations when there is no access to internet, with the simple specified steps you can use the benefits of offline mode without any hassle.
