Releasing Manufacturing Drawings through Engineering Release

Product Release Engineer is a cloud-based solution on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. Engineering Release lets you manage the engineering definition of a product, which comprises the instances of products.

First, we will navigate to the Engineering Release tab at the top of the screen. Here, we have the Engineering Release App, once you open the Assembly this app will display the entire bill of material structure. This tool can handle the assemblies which were created by SOLIDWORKS or xApps. When we expand it out, we can see the whole assembly structure. A really great feature of the Engineering Release app is the ability to edit and modify the custom file properties directly in the Engineering Release App. For example, we can easily and quickly add a new custom file property or add material.

Now if we want to release the pdfs of the Manufacturing released drawing in a particular assembly. Engineering release role gives us the feasibility to release or generated pdfs within one click.

Click on it and simply drag and drop it to the Tab.

Open the required assembly.

For releasing the manufacturing drawings, the administrator can trigger

We need to install a Derived format converter.

Derived Format Converter is a format converter for SOLIDWORKS. Here you can generate derived formats, for example STEP or PDF, from SOLIDWORKS files.

Derived Format Converter supports asynchronous generation of derived formats for the data created through 3DEXPERIENCE apps. You can configure one or more servers across the enterprise to process the data created by all users and saved to 3DEXPERIENCE. Alternatively, individual users can launch the conversion process for their designs in the background. The app is accessible from the Compass.

Now, we will jump back into Engineering release and click on the information button as shown below.

Then click on Derived output.

Unzip the folder which is downloaded in the directory.

Now, we can see the Manufacturing drawings PDFs which are generated within one click through Engineering Release which saves time, increases productivity and the added advantages it does not require SOLIDWORKS software or any other platform to release, add custom file properties etc.
